noble rot

Last night I did some rooftop agriculture "research" at a place called Noble Rot. Of course I had to sample the menu as well... 












I've moved!

I'm an asst. prof at portland state university now! I hold quite a unique position that entails both teaching very specialized courses as part of the urban honors program, mentoring undergraduate research projects, and continuing my studies on green roofs and urban ecology.  More info about the program can be found here:

Green roof temperature

This summer, Paul Ellis, of Montgomery Blair HS will be measuring the temperature above the experimental roofs at UMD in order to determine how different roof treatments might affect the air entering hvac systems and thus the energy demands of these systems...
Here he is installing several temperature sensors at different heights above a platform planted in S. kamtschaticum:
